The cave-like pool/spa is fantastic. The location is beautiful as are all the flowers around the hotel. Breakfast was plentiful.
Our lakeview room was very small and was not like the pictures at all. The hotel feels like it is in a time warp - in the common areas it is interesting with stained glass and antique furniture but in the rooms it is not. The hairdryer was falling off the wall and the bathtub takes an hour to fill since there is no hot water for the tubs. The floor was completely soaked after a shower due to some kind of leak. There were no robes or slippers in the rooms. The balcony furnishings are plastic and cheap with old musty tablecloths - not a 4 star feeling at all. I would not stay here again.
The pool area was really nice and relaxing, enjoyed that a lot.
There were to few elevators and sometimes you had to take the stairs because the elevators were busy.
Location excellen very close to centre and ferry points with safe undrground car parking. Staff very friendly and helpful. Decor and gardens in true Edwardian splendour. We had lake view from second floor room.
Did get noise from room next door and particulary above which we complianed about.
Great spa, nice dinning areas
rooms with the lake view do not have thick windows and street noise is easily heard.
Beautiful location and building / interiors
Breakfast mediocre, hotel in need of some restoration
The hotel is very convenient to everything...the town, the boats around the lake, the train station. It's got a beautiful view of the lake with the promenade just across the road. It was very quiet at night in spite of the fact that it seemed very busy.
The service wasn't good. A distinct lack of porters etc. Breakfast was poor. No fresh fruit, no fresh juice, poor selection of cereals etc. There was also a lack of atmosphere. At night the bar was dead in spite of live music. The layout was very impersonal and unfriendly.
Everything about the hotel fantastic. Staff excellent and parking the car easy and free. Very large room facing the water and the room very comfortable. Extremely good breakfast.
The hotel has an unique and wonderful atmosphere. The room was very comfortable, clean and beauifully decorated. The staff (both in the reception and the staff in the restaurant) was extraordinary friendly and helpful. The food and service was excellent.
The spa facility had a sauna and steamroom which looked very nice but was unfortunately turned off for most of the time so was not able to use it - which is a shame as the spa is very nice. The pool was open though.
The area - the hotel is luxury but needs a face lift
Old world beauty and style. A very Elegant old world hotel which has become a hotel that serves mainly large noisy groups of people.
Too noisy. The staff isn't very helpfull at the front desk.
Very nice hotel in a perfect position for visiting lake Maggiore. If you want to relax the hotel has a very beautiful garden with a swimming pool and a spa. Hope to go there again soon
The Hotel was clean , well situated , we were on 4th floor so view was stunning , food was good, staff generally tried successfully to communicate well in English with us....and we were permanently admiring the presumably italian design and workmanship within the hotel.
There were unending amounts of restuarants with relaxed atmosphere's within easy walking distance , we tried a few and found them of good quality....this perhaps affected the number of hotel clients using the hotel's eating facilites.
The position of the hotel overlooking he lake and proximity to resteraunts/bar/shops. The overall style of the hotel is beautiful. The staff were very helpful + polite. The room/bed were very comfortable and clean.
Our room was quite small and obviously above or near the kitchens as it smelled frequently of cooking. The whirlpool bath was ??? dirty and smelled of damp and the seal around the bath/shower was horrible and black. The outdoor pool was dirty with dead insects onthe bottom, with no filter system cleaned only by the daily addition of chemilcals.Breakfast was disappointing with tinned fruit.
Beautiful location, probably the best spot on the Lake. If you like old fashioned grandeur, then this is the place for you.
Decor a little fussy for my taste, but is appropriate for the style of building. Drinks in hotel very expensive but perfectly reasonable bar (quiet - so don't worry about the noise) across the road.
The hotel was beautiful, our only complaint being the price of the internet wireless. 17.50E for 24 hours and that was the minimum you could pay. For 200E a night you would think it would be free!!
